Over the years the developments in the design and manufacture of Energy Saving Bulbs has resulted in them having the same brightness and same colour light as ordinary bulbs. These bulbs are now almost the same size as their ordinary counterpart and now take less than twenty seconds to reach full brightness.

These energy saving candle bulbs from GE use just 5w of electricity but generate the same light as an equivalent 25w incandescent bulb.
